In the Upper Bavarian community of Schwindegg, in the district of Mühldorf am Inn, stands the Renaissance moated castle of Schwindegg. This structure, built on medieval foundations, has an enclosed four-wing layout, corner towers, and a gate tower.

History+

The origins of a manorial seat in Schwindegg date back to the 14th century. The castle's current appearance was shaped between 1594 and 1620, when Sebastian von Haunsperg undertook the new construction. In 1816, the castle passed into the possession of the von Moreau family. In 1851, Josef Fischer, the former administrator, acquired the estate. In 1912, the Kyffhäuserbund and the Bavarian Veterans' and Soldiers' Association took over the castle and used it as a recreation home.
