Seelingstädt Castle is located in Saxony. Originally evolving from a knight's seat, it now presents itself as an ensemble reflecting various eras and uses.

History+

The origins of Seelingstädt Castle date back to the 15th century, when a knight's seat was first mentioned at this location between 1445 and 1447. This was elevated to a knightly estate in 1551. In 1630, the current castle was built on the site of an earlier wooden fortress. In the mid-19th century, the Zschucke family acquired the property and renovated the castle, giving it its current appearance in 1870. Around 1900, ownership changed again to Woldemor Bretschneider-Bodemer, who undertook further modifications. After World War II, in 1945, Bretschneider-Bodemer was dispossessed.
