Seggerde Castle, also known as Seggerde Manor House, is a late Baroque building in the Börde district of Saxony-Anhalt. It was constructed between 1833 and 1838 and is characterized by its three-wing layout and the surrounding moats, which hint at its origins as a moated castle.

History+

The first mention of a Siegfried von Seggerde in 1224 suggests the naming of the locality, which appeared in the feudal register two years later. The original moated castle was acquired around 1616 by Statius von Münchhausen as a dowry for his daughter Engel, who married Arndt Spiegel zu Peckelsheim. The Spiegel family owned the Seggerde manor until 1892. Werner Friedrich von Spiegel zu Peckelsheim inherited the moated castle in 1828 and had it converted into the current late Baroque castle between 1833 and 1838. Simultaneously, an English landscape park with lakes, an orangery, and a palm house was created.
