Seifersdorf Castle is located in the Seifersdorf district of the municipality of Wachau in the Bautzen district of Saxony, Germany. Originally built around 1530, it underwent a transformation in the early 19th century, which gave it its appearance today.

History+

On the current site, there was already a wooden moated castle in the first half of the 12th century. After its destruction by fire, a stone building was erected, which was later supplemented by a gatehouse in the 13th century. The building was extended to the east and mirrored. A Neo-Gothic redesign took place between 1818 and 1826 according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, which connected the existing parts and created an almost symmetrical U-shaped floor plan.
