In Lower Austria, Seisenegg Castle is an example of the evolution from a medieval double fortification to a noble residence. Originally conceived as a transport hub, it now serves as a venue for cultural encounters.

History+

The origins of Seisenegg date back to the 13th century, when it existed as a double fortification. In 1305, the Lords of Walsee acquired the property, which played a role in traffic between the Danube and the Ybbsfeld. They had the castle administered by stewards until their extinction in 1483. During this period, the complex was expanded, including a keep and a two-story castle chapel featuring a fresco cycle.
