Södertuna Castle, an estate in the municipality of Gnesta, Södermanland, Sweden, has a history dating back to the Middle Ages and today presents itself in a form that is the result of extensive transformations.
History+
The first documented mention of Södertuna dates back to 1381, when it was owned by Karl Niklisson. The estate changed hands multiple times and was successively held by noble families such as Sparre, Lovisin, Palmenfelt, Ehrensvärd, Wachtmeister, Adelborg, and von Eckermann. The core of the current main building has medieval origins. The castle largely acquired its present appearance through a renovation completed in 1892.
