Sonnenberg Castle (Stettfurt)
Sonnenberg Castle is first mentioned in 1242 as Sunnunbergh. It was the seat of the Reichenau family of Sonnenberg. After changing owners and a fire, Jost Zollikofer from St. Gallen rebuilt the current castle in 1596. In 1678, it came into the possession of Einsiedeln Abbey as a governorate.
In 2007, Austrian financier Christian Baha bought the castle and the associated estate with 150 hectares of arable land, meadows, forest, and vineyards. The castle is currently being restored and renovated. In 2009, settlement traces from the fourth century BC were found during work.
