In Rees-Haldern in the Kleve district, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is Sonsfeld Castle, known today for its history and the remnants of a Baroque garden. The original castle, whose exact location is now only marked by moat remains, was demolished in the early 18th century. A later built manor house now bears the name of the historic castle.

The first documented mention of Sonsfeld Castle dates back to 1259. In 1368, the estate was owned by Steven von Wittenhorst. Sonsfeld, along with surrounding farming communities, was elevated to a lordship in 1666. The original castle was dismantled in the first half of the 18th century, but a planned new building was never realized.
