The castle was built at the beginning of the 19th century and converted into a castle in 1898. The last owner of the castle was Baron Ernst von Salza und Lichtenau, who was dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. From 1945 to 1990, a children's sanatorium was housed in the castle.
