Spetzgart Castle, located southeast of Hödingen on a high shore terrace of Lake Constance, dates back in its core to a Staufer-era castle from 1200. In 1223, a "Burchardus de Spehshart" is mentioned in a document. In 1503, a renovation took place. In 1634 and 1643, the castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. In 1671, the current castle was built. Since 1928, a branch of the Salem boarding school has been housed at Spetzgart Castle.
