Stadl Castle

The present-day castle was built on the site of a medieval moated castle, first mentioned in 1265, by the Knights of Stadl. These were vassals of the Wildoners and Stubenbergers.

The family died out in 1882. A Hugo von Stadl is already mentioned in 1180, but it is doubtful whether he owned the fortified building on the Raab.
