In Petzelsdorf, in Southeast Styria, stands Schloss Stein. Today, it serves as an educational institution.

History+

The origins of Schloss Stein trace back to an earlier princely castle, which functioned as the main castle of Fürstenfeld from 1170, exercising dominion over the area south of Fürstenfeld to Kapfenstein. Although this original castle was later acquired by the state and converted into Austria's first tobacco factory in 1776, the lordship of Stein persisted. Consequently, the current Schloss Stein was built in Fehring as the new seat of power.
