Steinegg Castle (Hüttwilen)

Steinegg Castle is a castle rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style in 1886-1887, whose origins date back to the 13th century. It is located in the "Nussbaumen" district of the municipality of Hüttwilen (Thurgau, Switzerland).

First mentioned in a document in 1357. Parts of the original 13th-century castle, built by the Lords of Steinegg, are integrated into the southwest wing of the current building. It burned down between 1517 and 1520. From 1584, it was the seat of the Zurich bailiff. 1624-1626 construction of the southeast wing and the rondelle. In 1886-1887, Alfred Ziegler had the castle transformed into a Neo-Renaissance style castle by the architect Christian Friedrich Hahn. In 1901, Dr. P. Maag established his famous naturopathic and fasting clinic there, which was continued by the Association for Public Health. Afterwards, the castle served as a hotel. In 2011, the property underwent extensive renovation.
