Stietencron Castle

The origins of the estate date back to 1664, when Colonel Simon Moritz von Donop founded the Schötmar knight's estate after acquiring land and the parish inn. The current castle was built in 1729 on behalf of August Moritz Abel Plato von Donop, a minister of state. Between 1788 and 1831, the castle changed hands several times until it was acquired by Johann von Stietencron in 1831, becoming the family seat of the von Stietencron family. His son Iwan von Stietencron, a study friend of Bismarck, inherited the estate in 1835. In 1949, the castle, along with its park, became the property of the city of Schötmar. Since 1983, the Bad Salzuflen Music School has been located here. The castle was built between 1729 and 1732 in the late Baroque and Rococo styles.
