Stockhausen Castle

The origins of the current castle date back to the 16th century, when the Hermannsburg stood on this site. In 1770, court architect Georg Koch began construction of the present Stockhausen Castle on behalf of the Riedesel family. The completion of the three-winged Empire-style complex took place in 1801, with mansard roofs and an elevated gatehouse in the center being added. East of the main building, an economic courtyard was created with an entrance flanked by two guard pavilions and a baroque manor house. South of the castle, a landscaped park was laid out with terraced gardens, a pond, and a neoclassical mausoleum, adorned with putti and vases from the 18th century.
