Störmthal Castle

The first documented mention of Störmthal dates back to 1306, when it was recorded in the rent register of Pegau Monastery. From 1350 onwards, ownership of the village changed hands several times. Störmthal experienced a period of prosperity from 1675 under Statz Friedrich von Fullen, an Electorate of Saxony war councilor at the Dresden court. In 1690, he initiated the establishment of an independent parish and, a year later, opened the first village school. In 1693, von Fullen began constructing the present castle, which he surrounded with a park, a wildlife enclosure, and seven fish ponds.
