Die Wasserburg
The origin of the castle lies in an old moated castle, which was built in the 11th century and was owned by the Counts of Henneberg since 1274. In 1538, the castle was converted into a palace. In 1549, Schwarza came into the possession of the Counts of Stolberg. In the first half of the 18th century, the current palace in Schwarza was built. The ruling collateral line Stolberg-Schwarza died out in the male line in 1748. In 1885, the municipality bought the palace and the demesne from Otto von Stolberg. Today, the building is uninhabited and in disrepair.
