Straßberg Castle

A predecessor building was already mentioned in 1250. In 1266, the castle was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt. In the 16th century, a new building was constructed. In 1755, the castle burned down. At the beginning of the 19th century, it was rebuilt. In 1880-81, a new building was constructed. In 1930, the castle was damaged in a fire.

The Keep

The keep, dating from the 13th century, is the oldest part of the castle. It has a square floor plan and is built of massive ashlar. The walls are up to 3 meters thick.

The Palas

The Palas, built in the 16th century, served as the residential building of the lords of the castle. It is a three-story building with a hipped roof. Inside, there are several richly decorated rooms, including the Knights' Hall and the Princess's Chamber.

The Chapel

The castle chapel, consecrated in 1700, is a baroque building with a richly decorated altar. It is still used today for church services and concerts.

The Castle Garden

The castle garden was laid out in the 18th century and is a baroque garden with geometrically arranged flowerbeds, fountains, and sculptures. It offers a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape.

Today, the castle houses a museum that presents the history of the castle and its inhabitants. Various exhibitions and events are regularly held. The castle garden is open to the public and invites visitors to stroll and relax.
