Tairnbach Castle

In the center of Tairnbach is Tairnbach Castle. There was an early manor house. This was demolished in 1736 during the construction of the castle. The builders of the castle were the Barons d'Outrepont, who had immigrated from France and, as mentioned above, Germanized their name to Ueberbruck von Rodenstein. In 1905, the castle and the Sternweiler Hof district were sold by the widow of the last male heir to the municipality for 170,000 Goldmark. A fire in 1928 destroyed the castle down to its outer walls, as well as all outbuildings. The building was then partially rebuilt. The castle served as the town hall until 1975. In 2011, the castle was renovated and redesigned. It now houses a local history museum, club rooms, and a community hall.
