Tannenmühle Castle

The origins of Tannenmühle date back to 1455, when Philipp Tanner is presumably named as its founder. From 1591, the property belonged to the Neulengbach dominion. In 1862, Viktor Graf Lützow acquired the estate and had a manor house built next to the existing mill, expanding the property through additional purchases. Just nine years later, in 1871, ownership passed to Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy. He had the mill demolished, the manor house extensively rebuilt, and the park expanded to create a country estate in the British style. In 1872, the English diplomat Robert Bulwer-Lytton resided at the property.
