Tannhausen Castle, a historic structure whose origins as a moated castle date back a long time, stands in the Ostalb region in Baden-Württemberg. It has preserved its appearance despite multiple destructions.

History+

The first documentary mention of a moated castle owned by the Lords of Tannhausen dates back to 1228. The estate was repeatedly exposed to wars and fires. It was severely damaged three times, in 1567, 1621, and 1649. The castle acquired its current architectural form after 1767 through extensive reconstruction work. It survived the Second World War from 1939 to 1945 unscathed.
