Tauchritz Castle, a moated castle, is located in the Tauchritz district of Görlitz in Saxony, Germany. Its construction on oak piles in marshy terrain, surrounded by moats, is an adaptation to local conditions.

History+

The first documented mention of the Tauchritz manor dates to 1306, when it was owned by Nikol von Neuershove. Between 1349 and 1422, it belonged to the noble family Bieberstein auf Friedland, before being acquired by the von Gersdorf family in 1422. In 1611, the castle changed hands to Georg von Warnsdorf for 25,000 talers. A fire in 1683 destroyed the castle and other buildings.
