Taufkirchen Castle

The first documented mention of the castle dates back to 1263, when Grimold von Taufkirchen was named as its owner. Ownership changed hands. Initially, the Lords of Fraunberg resided here, followed by the Fugger family, who held the estate from 1544 to 1672. Subsequently, the Barons of Puech took over the castle. A cooperative of Taufkirchen citizens acquired the castle and its brewery in 1917. Just two years later, it became the property of the Upper Bavarian Landarmenverband, which transformed it into the Upper Bavarian State Welfare Institution in 1924.
