In Lengau-Teichstätt, Braunau am Inn district, Upper Austria, Teichstätt Castle is an estate that combines its original castle architecture with a long history of agricultural use. Situated on a low ridge, its distinctive round towers are visible from afar.

History+

The village of Teichstätt was mentioned as early as the time of Duke Tassilo III, but a noble residence only emerged about 700 years later. The first documented mention of the castle appears in the Friedburg Urbar between 1363 and 1430. From 1483, it was owned by the Rainer family, who named themselves after Teichstätt and the neighboring Erb Castle. Ludwig Rainer had the current castle built between 1563 and 1566. After the Rainers, the castle changed hands several times, including Hans Albrecht von Pirching and Dr. Georg Hägl. In 1597, Dr. Johann Fischer acquired the property.
