The castle, which had already fallen into disrepair in the 14th century, had no successor for a long time. The description of the Nuremberg landscape from 1504 repeatedly mentions Tennenlohe without mentioning a seat, just as the damage lists of the Second Margrave War of 1552/53 do not.
