Thierlstein Castle was first mentioned in a document around 1000 and, thanks to a fortunate turn of events, has been spared from destruction over the centuries.

The core building of the castle with its round keep and adjoining residential building was built around 1360. In the 17th century, several farm buildings were constructed.
