Thurn und Taxis Castle
St. Emmeram's Castle or Thurn und Taxis Castle is a castle belonging to the Princely House of Thurn und Taxis in Regensburg.
In 1810, with the redemption of postal rights, the Princely House of Thurn und Taxis acquired the monastery grounds of St. Emmeram's Monastery, which dated back to the 8th century, along with its buildings, and had it converted into a residential castle by Jean Baptiste Métivier starting in 1812.
During the Second World War, the 'Wehrmacht Command Regensburg' was located in the castle.
Parts of the castle are still inhabited by members of the Thurn und Taxis family today.
Since the beginning of the 19th century, the crypt chapel, serving as a princely mausoleum, has been located in the cloister of the former St. Emmeram's Monastery, where princes and princesses and unmarried children of the House of Thurn und Taxis are still buried today.

Visitors can tour the magnificent rooms of the castle with tapestries from the Brussels period and interior furnishings from the Thurn und Taxis Palace in Frankfurt am Main. Part of the cloister and adjacent buildings from the oldest part of the monastery have been preserved. Unlike the monastery rooms, which were converted into magnificent chambers, the cloister remained unchanged. As part of the museum, it can be visited during guided tours. In the Marstall (royal stables), the Marstall Museum with historic carriages and the Princely Treasury of Thurn und Taxis, a branch museum of the Bavarian National Museum, can be seen. The building was erected in 1829 according to plans by Jean Baptiste Métivier.
Brewery+
In 2005, the former coach house of the castle was converted into a brewpub.
