In the municipality of St. Florian-Tillysburg in the Linz-Land district, Upper Austria, Tillysburg Castle stands, a structure in the transitional style between Renaissance and Baroque. It rises on a hill of approximately 299 meters above sea level.

The origins of Tillysburg Castle date back to the 12th century, when Volkenstorf Castle, the ancestral seat of the Lords of Gleink, who later named themselves after the castle, stood on this site. In 1256, the original castle was razed after a fatal incident involving Ortlof von Volkenstorf, but was rebuilt by his son Heinrich. After a fire in 1558, it was rebuilt again. The Volkersdorfer lineage died out in 1616. In 1629/1630, Count Werner t’Serklaes von Tilly acquired the property and had the old castle demolished to erect the current Tillysburg Castle between 1633 and 1645. A redesign took place in 1720 by Johann Michael Prunner. After the Tillys died out, the castle passed through several hands until it was sold to St.
