Titting Castle

Brewery

A historic moated castle, Titting Castle, now houses a brewery. Its irregular octagonal shape and the two three-quarter round towers with helmet roofs give it an appearance.

History+

The origins of the castle probably date back to the nobles of Titting, who were mentioned as early as 1237 and had their seat here. In 1525, the complex was plundered during the Peasants' War. After the nobles of Titting, ownership changed hands several times, including to the Hofstetter, Erlingshofener, and Lidwacher families. The latter sold the castle and village in 1535 to Duke Ottheinrich of Neuburg, which led to the introduction of the Reformation in Titting. The core of the present castle complex was built during this period.
