Trabuschgen Castle, a structure on the northern edge of Obervellach, is an example of the evolution from a medieval property to a Baroque meeting place.

History+

Trabuschgen Castle was first documented in 1434, when it was owned by Balthasar von Kühnburg. The Kühnburg family, who served as administrators in Obervellach until 1633, shaped the building in the 15th and 16th centuries by expanding it into a Renaissance residence. In 1692, the castle changed hands, passing to Hans Stampfer von Walchenberg, a copper miner from Fragant.
