In the Märkisch-Oderland district of Brandenburg is Trebnitz Castle. Originally a monastic foundation, it evolved into a castle, now serving as an educational and meeting center.

History+

The first documented mention of Trebnitz dates back to 1124, when it was founded by the Silesian monastery of Trebnitz and remained in its possession until 1498. In 1730, an extensive 30-hectare park was laid out, its design later influenced by the landscape architects Peter Joseph Lenné and his pupil Eduard Neide. From 1827, the estate belonged to the von Brünneck family. In 1900, the original manor house underwent a transformation into a Neo-Baroque castle. After World War II, the then owner Harald von Brünneck was dispossessed and expelled in 1945.
