Treschklingen Castle

As early as the late Middle Ages, Treschklingen had two manor houses, mentioned in 1470 as the old and new castles. In 1588, Reinhard von Gemmingen had a stone dwelling built in place of the old castle, which was destroyed by French troops in 1693 during the War of the Palatine Succession. The ruin existed until 1744 before its remains were removed. Archaeological finds from 1993, including wall remnants and an oak beam grillage, suggest that the dwelling built in 1588 was a moated castle. The current castle was built in 1802 by Sigmund von Gemmingen as an administrative building. It temporarily served as a residence for the von Gemmingen family and was later often managed by stewards. In the 19th century, a neoclassical staircase was added.
