A castle in Triestewitz is first mentioned in 1251 as being in the possession of the Knights of Triestewitz. It originally dates from the 10th-11th century. From 1473, the castle was owned by the von Falcke family, but due to a lack of heirs, it reverted to the Elector of Saxony.
