Trips Castle

The von Trips family erected the first castle complex on this site in the 14th century. Through marriage, the property passed to the Berghe family in 1376, who from 1473 onwards referred to themselves as “von Berghe, called Trips.” In the 15th century, the core castle was rebuilt, consisting of a residential building in the north and an adjoining east wing at a right angle. In the first half of the 18th century, the property came into the possession of the Barons von Eynatten. They had the complex redesigned and expanded in the Baroque style. Since 1982, Schloss Trips has been a protected monument.
