On the western edge of the village of Trockau stands a three-story building with an irregular quadrilateral floor plan. The current Trockau Castle was built in the second half of the 18th century and remains in private ownership to this day.

History+

The Lords of Trockau were first documented in 1273. A corresponding castle was first mentioned in writing in 1316. Through marriage, the castle passed to the Groß von Trockau family at the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century, who served Konrad von Schlüsselberg from 1307. By 1390 at the latest, the castle was a fief of the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg. In 1460/1462, the complex suffered severe damage during the Princes' War, when the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg fought against the Margrave of Bayreuth.
