Trolleholm Castle

The origins of Trolleholm Castle date back to the 16th century, when the Dane Tage Ottesen Thott had the first castle built on this site in 1538. In 1678, the estate suffered a setback when it was burned down by Danish troops. Two years later, in 1680, Niels Trolle acquired the estate. In 1727, the castle passed into the possession of Colonel Fredrik Trolle. His daughter Vivika married Count Gustaf Bonde, and their grandson Gustav Trolle-Bonde resided in the castle from 1808 to 1837. After his death, his nephew, Count Gustav Trolle-Bonde Jr., and later his second son, Count Carl Johan Trolle-Bonde, inherited the property.
