Die Familie von Wangenheim

For a long time, the von Wangenheim family owned the village of Tüngeda. Hartmann von Wangenheim built the castle in 1582. After the Thirty Years' War, it was considered dilapidated. In 1881, the building was redesigned, incorporating the previous structure. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed by the communists. In 1951, the municipality of Tüngeda took over the building. Between 1991 and 2000, it was renovated and used as living space and a kindergarten.
