Tutzing Castle

The castle is first mentioned in a document as a court in the 11th century. In 1480, ownership changed to the Dichtl family. From 1519 to 1848, it held Hofmarksgerechtigkeit (manorial rights). During the Thirty Years' War, the castle burned down and was subsequently rebuilt. In 1650, Hans Albrecht Viehbeck von und zu Haimhausen acquired the castle at auction. In 1680, a reconstruction was carried out by Maximilian von Götzengrien. From 1731 to 1869, the castle was owned by the Mecklenburg counts of Vieregg. From 1802 to 1816, renovations were carried out by Count Friedrich von Vieregg. From 1869 to 1880, the castle was owned by the publisher Eduard von Hallbergs, and from 1921 to 1930, by Marcel von Nemes. During the Third Reich, the castle was owned by the Hackelsberger family, and thereafter by the Kaselowsky family. In 1947, it was handed over to the Inner Mission. Until 1949, the castle was owned by the Oetker family. In 1949, Bishop Hans Meiser bought the property for the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Bavaria. Since then, it has housed the Evangelical Academy.
