Uebigau Castle

The origins of the current castle date back to 1864, when the Berlin building contractor Johannes August Schmidt acquired the manor. He had an existing residential building demolished and erected a manor house in 1864/65. In the following decades, the property changed hands several times. Owners included Friedrich Hürche, Max von Schönberg, and Carl Böhm. Moritz Rutschmann owned the property from 1867 to at least 1878. In 1886, Captain (ret.) Georg von Bismarck made changes to make the castle more comfortable. The castle largely acquired its current appearance through Major Ernst Bock von Wülfingen, who later purchased it. Following plans by the Leipzig architect Gustav Pflaume, he had the central wing raised in 1904, adding a mansard roof and a roof turret.
