Übigau Castle
The Baroque Übigau Castle is located in Dresden-Übigau, Saxony.
History+
Übigau Castle was built between 1724 and 1726 on behalf of Imperial Count Jacob Heinrich von Flemming. Shortly before its completion, Elector August the Strong acquired the property. In the mid-19th century, it served as the administrative headquarters of the Übigau mechanical engineering plant under Johann Andreas Schubert, where the Saxonia, the first locomotive built outside England, was created. In the 1920s, the neighboring Übigau shipyard used the castle as its company headquarters.
