Ulriksdal Castle

The Castle can be visited

Ulriksdal Palace, a royal residence, is located in the municipality of Solna not far from Stockholm, directly on Edsviken, an arm of the Baltic Sea.

History+

The origins of the palace date back to the years 1643 to 1645, when it was built under the name "Jacobsdal" for Reichsmarschall Jakob De la Gardie. In 1684, it was renamed Ulriksdal in honor of a deceased brother of King Charles XI. The palace later served as a residence for Gustav VI Adolf.

In the immediate vicinity, there is also a herb garden, an orangery housing a sculpture museum, and a palace chapel. The Confidencen, Sweden's oldest Rococo theater, is also located here. In the former stable building, Christina I's coronation carriage can be seen.
