Ulvåsa Castle, a historic estate in the Swedish region of Östergötland, rises near Motala on the shores of Lake Boren. The current structure, whose origins date back to the 16th century, is particularly known for its connection to Saint Bridget of Sweden, even though her medieval residence was located a few kilometers west of the present complex.

History+

The construction of the current Ulvåsa Castle began in the 16th century. The building underwent a significant architectural change in the early 19th century when a third floor was added, giving it its present appearance. The original medieval Ulvåsa, where Saint Bridget of Sweden spent much of her life, was located a few kilometers west of the current castle. After the death of her husband, this older complex was abandoned, and a new residence was built in Brittås, about one kilometer south of the current manor house.
