Usingen Castle, located in the town of Usingen in the Hochtaunuskreis district, Hesse, Germany, was originally a medieval defensive structure. It transformed into a baroque residence and now serves as an educational institution.

History+

The origins of Usingen Castle date back to the 14th century, when a fortified house was built on this site under Johann I of Nassau-Weilburg. Between 1660 and 1663, Prince Walrad of Nassau-Usingen had a new castle built in place of the old one. Under Princess Charlotte Amalie, a conversion into a baroque residence was carried out by the architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel between 1733 and 1738.
