Vagen Castle
In the municipality of Vagen in the district of Rosenheim, at an elevation of approximately 540 meters above sea level, stands Schloss Vagen.
History+
The origins of Schloss Vagen date back to 1768, when Anton Vogt, a county administrator of Valley and lessee of a brewery, had the estate built after acquiring a part of the Hofmark Vagen. He designed a castle garden, where he created water cascades with the help of the Goldbach stream. In the 1870s, the castle underwent an expansion under Count Heinrich von Boos-Waldeck. The castle's current state is the result of these expansions and a renovation in 1995 by the owner Karl Michael Freiherr von Aretin.

The castle is privately owned, preserved, and inhabited. Since 2005, it has served as a backdrop for outdoor filming of the ARD telenovela “Sturm der Liebe.” Due to these filmings, the grounds are not accessible to the public.
