Vallen Castle
Vallen Castle is a historic estate in the Swedish region of Halland, situated on an island near Våxtorp in the municipality of Laholm. Its history dates back to the 14th century and is marked by multiple destructions and reconstructions.
History+
The first documented mention of Vallen dates to the 14th century, when it was owned by Knight Peder Laxmand. Around the year 1400, the estate belonged to the brothers Åke and Povel Laxmand. Later, Henry Krummedige acquired the castle. In 1507, it was destroyed by Åke Hansson Tott, but rebuilt by Krummedige the following year. In 1654, ownership passed to Magnus Durell, before later changing to the Meck and Burenskiöld families. A fire destroyed the castle on April 1, 1800, after which Otto Wilhelm Burenskiöld initiated its reconstruction. Through marriage, Vallen came into the possession of the Carlheim-Gyllenskiöld family in 1830.
