In the Swedish province of Skåne, in the municipality of Ängelholm, lies the historic estate Vegeholm Castle. Originally built as a Danish castle, its history is marked by destruction, reconstruction, and its transition into Swedish ownership.

The origins of Vegeholm Castle date back to the early 16th century when it was built as a Danish castle. A fire in 1525 destroyed the complex, but it was rebuilt as early as 1530 by the Dane Tyge Krabbe. In 1663, ownership transferred to Gustaf Otto Stenbock. After his death, the castle first passed to Olof Nilsson Engelholm and later to Johan Cedercrantz. The Cedercrantz family owned Vegeholm until 1814 and developed it into a castle during this period.
