Vehn Castle

Schloss Vehn is an estate located on the edge of the forest in Löhndorf, a district of Sinzig in the Ahrweiler region, Rhineland-Palatinate. This is a listed castle.

The first documented mention of Vehn dates back to 1019, when Archbishop Heribert of Cologne bequeathed estates to the Deutz monastery. After 1266, the manor was initially granted as a fief to the burgraves of Landskron, later, after 1370, to the Lords Colve of Ahrweiler, and finally in 1564 to Wilhelm von Orsbeck. Between 1676 and 1795, the von Hocherbach family held the fief. The north wing of the complex bears the year 1753, with renovations taking place in the early 19th century, including the addition of stepped gables and the plastering of part of the building. During French rule, the castle was confiscated by the state and auctioned off.
