Vittskövle Castle
Near the village of Vittskövle, Vittskövle Castle rises, an example of Renaissance architecture in Sweden. It is one of the best-preserved Renaissance castles in the country.
History+
The construction of Vittskövle Castle took place around the year 1550 under the direction of the Danish nobleman Jens Axelsen Brahe. Originally conceived as a square, three-story brick castle, it was complemented by two diagonally opposite round towers. Until the Swedish conquest of Scania in 1658, the complex was equipped with cannons. In the early 19th century, the castle underwent extensive renovation, which also included the design of its interior.

Today, Vittskövle Castle is privately owned. It is surrounded by a moat and gardens that were laid out in the 18th century. The castle is not accessible to visitors, but it can be viewed from the outside.
