Wachendorf, a district of Starzach in the Tübingen district, Baden-Württemberg, is home to Wachendorf Castle. Together with its outbuildings and the castle garden, it shapes the local landscape.

History+

The history of the castle is linked to the von Ow-Wachendorf family, who were elevated to the status of Imperial Barons by Emperor Leopold I in 1681. This elevation granted the family rights, including blood jurisdiction, power over life and death. An example of this was the execution of Johann Reinhard, known as “Zigeuner Meizel,” in 1787 after a series of raids.
