Wachwitz Castle is a structure on the Elbe slopes of Dresden-Wachwitz. Originally used as a royal vineyard, this estate is now a residential complex.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to 1824, when Crown Prince Friedrich August acquired vineyards in Wachwitz and had a palace built there as his summer residence. However, this palace was demolished between 1892 and 1893 to make way for the Royal Villa, a new building in the Neo-Renaissance style designed by Wilhelm Teichgräber. From 1894, the villa served as the residence for Crown Prince Friedrich August and later, after his ascension to the throne in 1904, as a summer residence for him and his family.
